The Rescheduling / Cancellation Policy - Effective 12th October 2007
Deccan has introduced a new Cancellation / Rescheduling Policy for all its passengers with effect from 12th October 2007.
Please note: This Rescheduling / Cancellation Policy supersedes all previous rescheduling / cancellation policies; all old rescheduling / cancellation policies will no longer be valid.
Rescheduling by the Passenger
Rescheduling of the ticket is only possible ahead of 2 hours prior to flight departure. The passenger is allowed to modify the flight, the sector, the route and the date of travel on his / her ticket along with payment of a rescheduling fee and the fare difference. No change is possible within 2 hours of flight departure.
Once the ticket has been issued, the name of the passenger cannot be changed.
Rescheduling fee of Rs. 500/- per passenger/ per sector along with the fare difference will be charged for any postponements / advancements, for all passenger tickets.
Since our fares are dynamic, the differential fare will be collected as below:-
If the applicable fare (basic and surcharge) is more than the current fare, the difference amount will be charged to the passenger along with a Rescheduling Fee of Rs.500/- for either advancement / postponement of the flight.
If the applicable fare (basic and surcharge) is less than the current fare, the difference amount WILL NOT BE REFUNDED to the passenger. The passenger will have to pay a Rescheduling Fee of Rs.500/- for either advancement / postponement of the flight.
Tickets booked under Superflier/ Valueflier can be re-scheduled only once per passenger, per sector as per the terms and conditions under these schemes.
Cancellation by the Passenger
Incase a passenger cancels a ticket, there will be no refund against the Ticket. Rs. 500/- ( per person) along with the transaction fee will be deducted from the ticket value and the balance amount will be held in the form of an OPEN TICKET/ Voucher, in the name of the passenger (s).
There will be no cancellation charges for an infant.
Tickets can be cancelled only through the Deccan Call Centre and requests for a Open Ticket can be placed. A Voucher Number, will be issued in the names of the passengers listed on the given ticket, whose ticket has been cancelled.
If multiple passengers are cancelled at one go then there will be only one Voucher generated, but if an individual passenger is cancelled separately, then different vouchers can be generated, based on the requirement of the ticket holder, for which a request needs to be placed with our Call Centre, at the time of cancellation.
The Open Ticket/ Voucher is valid for a period for 180 days from the date of issue. The passenger can re-book for travel within the validity period at the end of which the Open Ticket/ Voucher will expire and there will be no refund against the Open Ticket/ Voucher.
This Open Ticket/ Voucher would need to be recorded by the passenger, for future reference at the time of redemption.
Redemption of Open ticket / Voucher
The Open Ticket/ Voucher can be redeemed for travel on any Deccan sector, by quoting the Open Ticket/ Voucher # and providing necessary information for validation, through the following access points only

How is the Deccan ticket priced?

Deccan fares are dynamic in nature and are a ratio between the demand and supply on any given sector at any given point in time. Our fares begin low across most ATR and Airbus sectors and move upwards closer to the last day.

How do I book a ticket on a low fare?

On any Deccan flight on any particular day, the first few seats are sold at low fares and then the fares move to the next price point. The basic premise being, the earlier one books, the lower the fare. These tickets are available on first come first serve basis and can be purchase at any point of purchase. Deccan generally informs about opening of bookings via the media, i.e. newspaper advertisements etc.

Air Deccan

Deccan, India's largest and fastest growing low cost carrier, began operations in August 2003 with 1 aircraft and 4 flights a day and is today the fastest growing airline flying over 350 flights a day, spanning the length and breadth of the country while connecting 65 destinations. Deccan has the largest network in India and is presently operating a modern fleet of 44 aircraft.
Deccan provides affordable air travel at very low costs to the common man and its vision is to 'empower every Indian to fly'. Deccan flies to a number of destinations, including unconnected sectors like Hubli, Belgaum, Vijayawada, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Kanpur, Tuticorin Hampi, Kandla, Kullu, Rajahmundry and Pathankot. Deccan plans to penetrate extensively into the deeper pockets of the country and provide low cost connectivity to all towns including the ones in the remote interiors.
DistributionDeccan has brought about a revolution in air travel in India. It is India's first low fare, no-frill airline that has pioneered the concept of e-ticketing in India. A ticket on any of the Deccan flights can be purchased from anywhere around the globe by logging on to www.airdeccan.net. Besides this, the airline operates an All India 24x7 multi-lingual call centre for booking of tickets. These two innovative methods make it the first airline in the country to make available booking of tickets round the clock. The traditional methods of buying tickets through the travel agents or at the airline booking office in the airports are also available. Recently, Deccan has been awarded the "Most Innovative Company of the year" by Business Standard which bears testimony to the fact that Deccan has constantly been innovating new ideas.
Deccan also has been exploring alternative sources of distribution channel, bringing Deccan tickets closer to their homes by partnering with HPCL outlets to enable bookings whilst people fill gas!!! The airline has tied up Reliance Web World and Hughes Network, making the tickets more accessible for the common man. In keeping with its ongoing mission of providing easy access to its tickets, Deccan for the first time in India has introduced bookings of tickets via mobile phones. This will further simplify the process of booking tickets and make it convenient for the travelers, who have an option to book tickets in the comfort of their homes.
Management TeamThe Management is led by the Executive Chairman, Deccan Aviation, Capt. G. R. Gopinath, a graduate of the National Defence Academy and an ex-Army officer. A recipient of prestigious awards like ROLEX award for innovative entrepreneurship, WIPRO PRSI award from the PR Society of India and the Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur by the French Republic he has infused dynamism, enthusiasm and commitment into his start up team - a factor which has been largely responsible for the airline establishing itself in such a short time.
The Chief Executive Officer Ramki Sundaram graduated from the coveted Indian Institute of Technology Chennai and went on to do his Masters from XLRI Jamshedpur. Ramki has been an investment banker in the aviation field with experience of over 10 years. He has been instrumental in spearheading the aviation business for Investec Bank (UK) Ltd where he had a successful stint of 2 years before joining Deccan. Prior to this he has held senior positions in ANZ Investment Bank at Mumbai as well as London and has also been with ICICI Securities and Indian Aluminum Company.
PricingLow-Fares are Deccan's USP. The airline's vision is to make Air Travel Affordable, Reliable and Accessible to the common man. To make it affordable, the airline has positioned itself as a low-cost, no-frill airline wherein there is no free food service - the food is sold on board, no business lounges, single class of fare (economy), no frequent flyer mileage etc.
The cost savings achieved from the above will be reflected in the form of low fares. Deccan offers substantially lower fares than that offered by the other airlines on similar routes.
Deccan has aimed to bridge the gap in a dual economy that exists today, between the metro cities and smaller towns, giving impetus for the lateral growth of smaller towns and cities. The economy of a state depends largely on the growth and development of smaller towns within the state, for which air connectivity is a catalyst.
